About Me
"Engineer. Speaker. Bridge Builder."
Hi, I'm Mejean — an engineer, advocate, and a voice for connection and change.
Every journey has a beginning, and mine started with a simple belief: that where we stand today doesn’t define where we’re capable of going. Along the way, I've had to find my voice, rebuild bridges, and trust that small steps can lead to extraordinary places.
Here's a glimpse into the story that set everything in motion.
The Journey That Set Everything In Motion
This film highlights the powerful journeys of several resilient families, including my own.
My part of the story begins around 3:50:00 — but I invite you to experience the full video if you have the time.
Every journey shared here is a reminder of the strength we find in each other.
The Journey Forward
That first step — daring to believe in possibility — changed the course of my life.
After overcoming some of the hardest seasons of my life, I pursued my education at the University of Houston’s Cullen College of Engineering. Supported by the William A. Brookshire Foundation, my family, and a community that believed in second chances, I earned my degree and found my place among dreamers and doers at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
But my journey didn’t end there. Every challenge I faced became a reason to build — not just a career, but a bridge. Today, I use the lessons I've learned and the voice I've found to connect innovation with impact, helping others believe that where they are now is just the beginning of where they can go.

A Bridge I Couldn't Have Built Alone
One of the greatest turning points in my life came when I was awarded a full-ride scholarship from the William A. Brookshire Foundation. Dr. Brookshire’s belief in me — and in students like me — opened doors that I could never have reached alone.
His generosity wasn't just financial; it was deeply personal. Dr. Brookshire was one of my greatest supporters during my time at the University of Houston’s Cullen College of Engineering. Though he passed away shortly before I graduated, his encouragement and example continue to guide my journey today.
Nearly all of the students I mentor are Brookshire Scholars themselves — young people whose futures have been shaped by Dr. Brookshire’s vision, just as mine was. Every time I return to speak at the Brookshire Scholarship Luncheon — first as a student, now as a professional — I carry his legacy forward with pride, gratitude, and a commitment to build new bridges for those who follow.

One Last Bridge Built Together.
