Salvation Army Luncheon (2019) - Where Advocacy Began
After sharing her story of overcoming homelessness, Mejean was invited to speak at the Salvation Army's annual luncheon, marking the beginning of her public advocacy journey. It was there she met Billy Dorsey, whose mentorship helped shape the path that would eventually lead to keynote speaking, community leadership, and a lifelong commitment to holding the door open for others.
University of Houston Foundation - Brookshire Scholarship Luncheon (2024)
The Brookshire Scholarship helped make Mejean's engineering education possible. Years later, she returned as a distinguished alumna to encourage a new class of scholarship recipients, inspired by the mentors who believed in her long before she believed in herself.
University of Houston – Women in Engineering Celebration (2026)
Each year, students, faculty and alumnae of the UH Cullen College of Engineering come together for the Women in Engineering Celebration. This year was the debut of my "Hold The Door Open" Keynote.
